Seraphin Gallery presents our second show of the 2012 fall season, Recent Sculpture, from artist David Borgerding. It will open Friday, October 26th with a reception from 6 – 8 PM at the gallery.
Borgerding is new to the city of Philadelphia and to Seraphin Gallery. His exhibition, Recent Sculpture, is comprised of works in different sizes and materials, including bronze and steel. At the center is a collection of simple, vertical life-size sculptures accompanied by wall and standing pieces of various dimensions.
Borgerding is interested in how sculpture relates to the human body. His unique balancing of forms creates distinctive, contemporary pieces. Even though his works present a dichotomy of forms with differentiating proportions, the end result is one that is harmonious. His contemporary inspirations include Richard Hunt as well as Bruce Beasley.
David Borgerding lives and works in New Orleans. He received his MFA from the Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia. He has completed a number of commissioned pieces and has participated in exhibitions around the country. Borgerding has been the recipient of the Joan Mitchell Foundation‘s grant and is also included in several permanent collections, including Loyola University in Louisiana.
