Seraphin Gallery is proud to present the 3rd Annual Emerging Talent exhibition, featuring both recent graduates and artists that are entering into the Philadelphia art community. The exhibition will open on July 15th and run through August 29th. The public opening will be held on July 15th from 6pm to 8pm.
Emerging Talent sets out to highlight some of the unique processes of these developing artists. The contemporary work in this collection ranges from painting and sculpture to digital photography and mixed-media installation. Large paintings incorporating automotive paint (Jennifer Jones) and spackle (Francesca Reyes) are offset by intimate detailed text work (Youdhi Maharjan) and organic fiber wall sculpture (Yunjung Kang). Within this exhibition, there are inventive techniques-- the effect of youthful experimentation and breaking with traditional media boundaries. This third iteration of Emerging Talent includes nine talented artists in the early stages of their promising careers.
Seraphin Gallery has invited Julianna Foster (University of the Arts, MFA, 2006), Jennifer Jones (Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, MFA, 2016), Yunjung Kang (Cranbrook Academy, MFA, 2014), Youdhi Maharjan (University of Idaho, MFA, 2012), Casey Matthews (University of Pennsylvania and Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, coordinated BFA, 2017), Erin Murdock (University of the Arts, BFA, 2016), Francesca Reyes (Tyler School of Art, BFA, 2015), Ashley Rutherford (University of Pennsylvania and Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, coordinated BFA ,2017), Leon Wen Xu (University of Pennsylvania and Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, coordinated BFA, 2017)
